The first of the arthritis foods to avoid are foods high in Omega-6 fatty acid. Oils and margarines that are made from sunflower and corn sources will increase the levels of pain and inflammation of the joints.

All saturated fats are identified to increase inflammation and pain in patients with arthritis. These are fats from processed foods and full-fat dairy products.

The second of the arthritis foods to avoid are foods with arachidonic acid. Arachidonic acid is found mostly in saturated fats and animal product food like red meat, pork and dairy products (except nonfat dairy products).

Arachidonic acid triggers the creation of a harmful type of prostaglandin, which actually helps inflammation processes in the body.

  3. Pistachios, pine nuts, peanut butter, peanuts
  4. Canned meats, sausage, pork, beef
  5. Dairy products, including yogurt
  6. Mayonnaise, hydrogenated and processed oils, butter, margarine
  7. Caffeinated beverages, alcoholic beverages
  8. Sodas and soft drinks
  9. Corn and maple syrup, refined sugar and desserts made with these
  10. Barbeque sauce, soy sauce, chutney, mustard, ketchup, and other condiments
  11. All kinds of fast food
